This week we did the teaser week for SLJ. For the first activity created a profile page about Lorde. Something I found interesting was how Lorde had synesthesia and she dropped out of high school. I worked with Taheesha and Sakina for this activity.

Pie Chart

Today I made a pie chart about how many people like Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Purple. The most tally marks was Purple. Purple was the winner then we put this on google sheets and wrote down the Colours and created the pie chart.

     i)   "...and makes a net of sticky, dangling threads."
          dangling means That the school bell was handing on the bell.

     ii)  "...many native flowers are white to attract night flying moths and beetles."
          attract means That The gravitational force of the earth attracts smaller bodies to it.
     iii) "The kiwi is special."

          special means unique.

Whale Watch



  1. Max hoped to wear the dolphin necklace for good luck.
  2. Lester put the hydrophone to listen for whale
  3. Lester took them offshore because the water was deep and fulled with food.
  4. Lester couldn’t get any sounds of whales because they were asleep or far away.
  5. The words "We waited …and waited have been written in large print to make them stand out. Max's was feeling happy.
  6. The first clue max had was the rush of air that was the whale breathing. Today in class me and my group did whale watch in reading.

Ladybirds




Lady Birds

  1. Two insects the ladybird larvae eat are scale insects and aphids.
  2. Birds don’t eat ladybirds because they taste too terrible to be eaten to themselves.
  3. Ladybirds sometimes ooze bitter orange blood from their legs when they play dead.
  4. Play dead means they are pretending to be dead.

Last day of lesson

Last day of lesson

Today was the last day of swimming. At swimming we use life jackets.
The first thing we did was put on our life jackets. With our life jackets we made
a chain in the water. So we had to hold the arm
part of the life jackets.
Then we had to make a huddle in a circle. Then two people had to came in the
middle and keep them warm. Then we had to touched the bottom of the
ground but, the life jackets will float up. It was really hard to touched the
ground at the pools.

Once there was a glass house under a bridge standing there. It was so pretty with so much colours on the glass house. There was a city behind the glass house. The glass house looked like a shop because it had lots of food in the glass house. After the glass house was made out of a shop but, it had no door.

After that Sara looked at the door but, at the door she saw her mum. Sara mum
looked old and then Sara mum said go away. Then Sara got her mum back and then
lived happily ever after.

Sentence types



Finding their way

Complex-  Bees can find their way back to their hive, after flying long distances
looking for food.  

Today in class we did some reading. The first book we read was finding their way.
So we had to find a AAAWWUBBIS in the book.

THE READING ROOM

  • The title refers to  the bathroom.

  • Italic is in the book Lisa is reading and standard is Lisa in the book

  • Mum finished on the telephone.

  • His feet feel like it was ice.

  • Lisa did not want to be found becuase she loved her book very much.
  • Lisa’s older sister looked for her everywhere. 

  • Then the mum finished on the telephone.

  • Lisa mum looked everywhere for Lisa becuase she was in the bathroom forevery.

  • Mark is a boy who is in Lisa’s reading book.

  • Lisa did not want to come out becuase she didn’t want to do work that her mum tells her to do.

  • Kathy is going to go to the libray to get some book for Lisa. 

  • Lisa is reading a really fun book. Lisa had good time becuase she is reading her book in the
  • bathroom. Lisa thinks that Mark will come alive becuase Mark is in the book. Lisa got the book
  • from the libray. 

The Surprised Mouse

Once there was a mouse in it’s hole. The mouse was just coming out of the hole and wanted
to see where a loud noise was coming from. The mouse saw lots of peanuts on the ground
and went up to eat them. The mouse was so surprised that he saw lots and lots of peanuts. Then
the mouse went to lie on the peanuts and ate some of them. The mouse took the rest of the
peanuts back to his hole and put the peanuts on his bed. The mouse had nowhere to sleep.


There were so many peanuts that the mouse had to dig in another hole just for the peanuts. The
mouse was so tried, he put all the peanuts in the new food hole. Then the mouse went back to
sleep. The mouse lived happily ever after with all his peanuts.

Duffy Role Model


Today in class we took out our books. So the first thing we did was Mrs Kirkpatrick gave as our books and My favorite book was melody because it is shinny on the front paper. So on the front paper is a unicorn on the paper. She looked so pretty because it gots a unicorn and some of a shinny and it gots a caste behind the unicorn. So I like that book very much because it is so shing and it looks like a unicorn on the paper.
