Pie Chart

Today I made a pie chart about how many people like Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Purple. The most tally marks was Purple. Purple was the winner then we put this on google sheets and wrote down the Colours and created the pie chart.

Night in the Forest

a)  Use the ideas from Night in the Forest to explain how birds, insects, and bats find food at night.     Fill in the chart. Write one idea for each bullet point. The first one has been done for you.

Can smell food / worms through its nostrils at the end of its nose.
Has big eyes to see in the dim light.
Lured by the light and caught in the net.

b)  Give the meaning of the word that is underlined in these parts of Night in the Forest.
     i)   "...and makes a net of sticky, dangling threads."
          dangling means That the school bell was handing on the bell.

     ii)  "...many native flowers are white to attract night flying moths and beetles."
          attract means That The gravitational force of the earth attracts smaller bodies to it.
     iii) "The kiwi is special."

          special means unique.

Whale Watch



  1. Max hoped to wear the dolphin necklace for good luck.
  2. Lester put the hydrophone to listen for whale
  3. Lester took them offshore because the water was deep and fulled with food.
  4. Lester couldn’t get any sounds of whales because they were asleep or far away.
  5. The words "We waited …and waited have been written in large print to make them stand out. Max's was feeling happy.
  6. The first clue max had was the rush of air that was the whale breathing. Today in class me and my group did whale watch in reading.

Ladybirds




Lady Birds

  1. Two insects the ladybird larvae eat are scale insects and aphids.
  2. Birds don’t eat ladybirds because they taste too terrible to be eaten to themselves.
  3. Ladybirds sometimes ooze bitter orange blood from their legs when they play dead.
  4. Play dead means they are pretending to be dead.
